IRL Subtitles

The IRL Subtitles project aims to create wearable technology that enables real-time subtitle display from environmental audio, targeting users who are deaf, hard of hearing, or in need of live translation. The system integrates a microphone array, and a camera to localize sound, transcribe speech, and visually present captions on a laptop screen connected to the glasses. This project would ideally be combined with a smart glass display/platform in the future.

About

Open Source Hardware specializes in building low-cost alternatives to expensive hardware/software, and then sharing the designs with the commons so that collaborative improvements can be made rapidly. Anyone can make changes or updates to the designs the Enterprise team creates—through this process, designs are improved at a much higher rate than would be possible within the Enterprise alone. Open source is all about collaboration.
