Week of 9/9/24 . Project update 1.

To Do list for the next week:
- Research everything since I am new and still need to learn about synthesizers
- MIDI compatibility and find what could work for our synthesizer
- Envelope and how we will use it for our design
- Low pass filters and what we will use in our design
- DAC and how it is used in our synthesizer
- Help make our MIDI input parts list and get the parts ordered so that we can start working on our simplified synthesizer
- Connect our Arduino and MIDI keyboard to a oscilloscope and make sure we are able to produce square waves using the keyboard
Week of 9/22/24
I completed almost everything that I had on my to do list.
We were able to produce waveforms when we connected our Arduino and we switched to a Teensy as well and were still able to get the waveforms correct. I researched many things and I have more knowledge now so that I might be able to help with more things. We were able to get the majority of our parts ordered and we are now just waiting on a couple to get delivered. Nothing will get moved to my to do list this week since we have completed everything.
To Do List for the next week:
- Receive our ordered parts and make sure they are all correct and we can use them.
- Work on the CDR
- Get the template and get together as a team to work on it
- Work on the slides for one of the problems we have faced
- Research and figure out how to connect the envelope and if it will work for what we are making
Week of 9/29/24
I was almost able to complete everything on the to do list. We received all of our parts but our filter so we were unable to test that and experiment with how we would want to use it. We received the rest of our parts though so we were able to experiment with the envelope and figure out that it should work right now for our needs.
I worked on the CDR during a meeting time with the team and we were able to get a lot of it done. We weren’t able to finish it completely so that will need to be moved to next weeks to do list.
To Do List for the next week:
- Finish up the CDR
- Complete the remaining slides we have left and I need to finish the slides I’m doing
- Present the CDR during our allotted time
- Hopefully receive our IC filter so we can start using that in the circuits we are building
- Start making a rough layout of how we want all our boards and Teensy connected (model in multisim)
Project Update 1: Spring Semester

To do List:
- Research different ways to house the electronics:
- 3d print parts and assemble
- Woodworking
- Find a full case online
- Figure out if we need a new envelope IC and what were doing with that
- Try the shield and see if it is a good idea to use
- Start working on our CDR slides
Project Update 2: Spring Semester
I was able to research a couple ideas about the case but still need to do more.
We have ordered a new IC and the audio shield. We have created the CDR slides and will work on them this coming week. Our new filter also came in so we can start testing that as well.
To Do List:
- Test filter in our circuit
- Finish CDR slides
- Start working on a design for our case
- Maybe start working on a design for our entire circuit
Project Update 3: Spring Semester
We finished working on the CDR presentation and presented and got some feedback.
To Do List:
- Test filter in our circuit
- Start looking at PCB designs
- Continue working on a design for the case
Project Update 4: Spring Semester
Spring Break! We need to mainly research during spring break.
To Do List:
- Research PCB designs
- Start designing the PCB
- Research case designs
- Start deigning a 3D printing part of the case
Project Update 5: Spring Semester
We have some rough ideas for case designs and were starting on the PCB
To Do List:
- Finish PCB design
- Work on building case
Project Update 6: Spring Semester
We have started experimenting with printing and have a almost finished PCB
To Do List:
- Finish PCB design
- Figure out how to use 3D printers and print our case
- Look at confirming final check offs
Project Update 7: Spring Semester

We cant fit our case in one clean print so we are working on how to do it in 2 and attach them
To Do List:
- Finalize our PCB design
- Figure out how to use 3D printers and print our case in 2 parts
- Look at confirming final check offs
Project Update 8: Spring Semester
We have split our case in half and have decided to have interlocking sections that we will also heat up as a way to keep it together once each part is printed. Our PCB is also done just have to make final checks on it.
To Do List:
- Finish case construction
- Decide what the top of the case should look like
- Get PCB in case
- Look at confirming final check offs
Project Update 9: Spring Semester
Our case is printed, now we just have to connect it and add the PCB and sliders and switches to it so that we can get full functionality of our synth.
To Do List:
- Attach case together
- Decide what the top of the case should look like
- Get PCB in case
- Add sliders and switches to case / PCB
Project Update 10: Spring Semester
Our synth is now fully completed. Everything is fully connected and it works and has all of our check offs completed. We now just need to work on our project report.
To Do List:
- Work on report
- Get check off for our final project
Project Update 11: Spring Semester
We are pretty much done. Report draft is almost done and our project is completed.
To Do List:
- Work on report
- Have fun
Project Update 12: Spring Semester

This is our final synth design with everything we wanted implemented!
To Do List:
- We are done yay
